Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed last week’s blog on the best way to lose weight.

This week I want to talk about the most important meal of the day, breakfast and the reasons why adults or kids should not skip the breakfast!

Studies have shown that kids who skip breakfast are tardy and absent from school more often than children who eat breakfast on a regular basis. . When kids skip breakfast, they can end up going for as long as eighteen hours without food, and this period of semi- starvation can create a lot of physical, intellectual, and behavioral problems for them.
Adults who skip breakfast tend to gain weight. Lot of people think that skipping the meal will help them lose weight. Studies have shown that people who skip breakfast tend to eat more food then they need at their next meal and that can result in increased body fat and slower metabolism. Some people tend to eat higher calorie snacks if they skip their breakfast to prevent hunger. So it is important to have that first meal so the body can function properly and you have more energy throughout the day to burn extra calories and handle the tasks of the day.

Time invested in breakfast is much more valuable than the few extra minutes of sleep. Below I have put couple of different breakfasts that I usually have and it takes me less than 5 minutes to make.

  • Wheat bread with strawberry jam, walnuts and a protein shake
  • 3 egg whites with oatmeal and a banana (I usually have this when I have time to prepare my breakfast)
  • Meal replacement shake with 400-500 calories in it.
  • Waffles with peanut butter and raisins on it with a glass of milk (2%fat)
  • Strawberry Smoothie with milk (2% fat) with oatmeal and almonds.

Couple of times a week I have clients as early as 5:30 in the morning so, those days I have meal replacement in the morning. And, I have multivitamins and omega3 with breakfast everyday.

I hope you find this blog useful and understand the value of breakfast.
